At Delaware: UD All-Time Top-10 Lists: 200-freestyle (1st, 1:38.41), 500-freestyle (1st, 4:30.88), 1,000-freestyle (3rd, 9:41.12), 1,650-freestyle (5th, 16:09.80), 100-backstroke (2nd, 48.98), 200-backstroke (1st, 1:46.71), 200-medley relay (2nd, 1:30.00; 4th, 1:33.02; 8th, 1:33.80; 9th, 1:34.25), 400-medley relay (2nd, 3:18.16; 4th, 3:18.50), 400-freestyle relay (2nd, 2:59.45; 3rd, 2:59.89; 5th, 3:02.27; 7th. 3:06.72), 800-freestyle relay (2nd, 6:41.76; 3rd, 6:45.70; 7th, 6:56.36). 2011-12 Season: Named the UD Alumni Association Team Most Valuable Player for overall swimming for the second year in a row • Captured the CAA 200 backstroke for the second straight year and did so in record-breaking fashion with a time of 1:46.71, was also the only individual crown for a Blue Hen during the four-day meet • finished in the top 5 in a total of four events at the CAA Championships which included placing 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th • National 5 & 10 Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week (Feb. 27) • set two top overall record times in the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke beating his own record in both events • added six more top ten times over the course of the year • finished in the top three 33 separate times with 15 of those being 1st place finishes. 2010-11 Season: Named the UD Alumni Association Team Most Valuable Player for overall swimming, performing in 12 events during the season • set three new program records during the course of the year, including putting his name in the UD all-time top-10 in nine different events and 12 different times • won a total of 18 races, while also finishing second 11 times and third three times • earned the CAA Championship in the 100-yard backstroke in a UD record time of 1:47.59 • also a part of the CAA winning 400-yard free relay team, anchoring the team that won in 2:59.89 • anchored the 800-yard freestyle relay team that earned a NCAA "B" Qualifier by placing third in the CAA's in 6:41.76, the second fastest time in UD history • won a personal record four events against La Salle and Rider, including the 200 free (1:42.24), the 200 back (1:53.13), the 500 free (4:41.05) and the opening leg of the 400 free relay (3:06.72) • had the team's top time in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 12th in the finals of the CAA Championships, but had a preliminary time of 4:33.66 to lead the team • posted a fourth place finish at the CAA's in the 200-yard freestyle event in the team's top time, 1:39.47, setting a new program record • named the CAA Men's Swimming of the Week on Nov. 16 and again on Jan. 18 • named the National 5 & 10 Best of the Blue Hens Athlete o the Week on Jan. 17 and again on Feb. 28. 2009-10 Season: One of the team's top distance freestyle swimmers • was the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay that set an NCAA provisional mark and won the CAA Championships in 2:59.45 • was the first leg of the 800 freestyle relay team that finished third in the CAA's in 6:45.70 • posted a second place finish in the 500 freestyle event at the CAA's in a school record 4:30.88 • won the 1,000 freestyle event at La Salle in the season's fastest time of 9:44.48 • came in third at the CAA's in the 200 backstroke, with the programs second best time all-time, 1:49.10 • finished seventh at the CAA's in the 200 freestyle with the season's top time of 1:40.59 • completed the 100 backstroke in 52.43 at Drexel to finish third.
High School: Four-year letterwinner in swimming at Emmaus High School • was an 11-time All-American selection • also earned all-area and All-State honors for his performance in the pool • anchored the school’s 400-freestyle relay team that set a new PIAA record with a time of 3:04.09 • two-time team Swimmer of the Year pick • held the Lehigh Valley’s top-time in the 100-butterfly, 100-backstroke, and 500-freestyle during his senior season.
Personal: Ryan Charles Roberts • son of Tom and Sandie Roberts • has a younger sister, Allison • served as a lifeguard at the Emmaus Aquatic Club • finance major with a minor in management information systems at Delaware • studies abroad in Italy during the summer • father is an avid photographer who photographs most of the team's meets.
