UD All-Time Top-10 Lists:500-freestyle (8th, 4:38.62), 100-butterfly (4th, 50:25), 200-butterfly (1st, 1:50.59). 2011-12 Season: came in 5th at the CAA Championships in the 200 Butterfly and also participated in the 100 Butterfly Final · had 11 top 3 finishes · placed 1st in the 200 Butterfly in a meet against La Salle and Rider. 2010-11 Season: One of the team's top butterfly swimmers, finishing with the top time in the 200-yard butterfly • posted a sixth place finish in the 200 fly at the CAA Championships in a season's best 1:50.60 • has a season's best time of 50.62 in the 100 fly at the CAA's, finishing in 14th and the team's third best time all season • won the 200 fly against Towson in 1:55.13 for the lone first place finish of the year. posted two second place finishes (200 fly at the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers and the 20 fly at the CAA Pod meet) and five third place showings. 2009-10 Season: One of the team's top butterfly swimmers • placed fifth at the CAA Championships in the 200 butterfly in a school record 1:50.59 • finished 11th at the CAA's in the 100 butterfly with the team's third fastes time of the season, 50.25 • swam the 200 freestyle in 1:44.20 in the time trials at the CAA's • placed 31st at the CAA's in the 50 freestyle in 21.94 • also competed in the 100 and 500 freestyle and the 100 backstroke for the Blue Hens.
High School: Four-year standout for the La Salle College High School swim team • competed in the free and fly • perennial member of the All-Catholic League teams • earned All-State honors for his performance in the 100-fly • also was an honorable mention All-American selection in the same event • set the school record in the butterfly.
Personal: Andrew Paul Speese • son of Paul and Barbara Speese • has two younger brothers, David and Bobby • mother played college basketball at Drew University • member of the National Honor Society • honor student majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in sustainable energy technologies at Delaware • served as research fellow for the Catalysis Center for Energy Innovation during the summer.
