NORFOLK, Va. - - The University of Delaware men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions Virginia Commonwealth University at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion, on Saturday afternoon.
Andre Vorobyov retired in the third set, but was the only single’s player to record a set victory against the powerhouse Rams. The match was knotted at 1-1 (3-6, 6-1) against Jaime Vasquez before retiring prior to the third set, giving Vasquez the win.
Troy Benneck (above right) took the second game of his matchup to a tiebreak against Max Wennakoski, the CAA Men’s Singles Player of the Week, but fell 2-6 and 7-6 (5) at the second flight.
