Blue Hen Men’s Tennis Takes on Morgan State Sunday to Kick-Off Spring Campaign

NEWARK, Del. -- With no seniors on the squad, the University of Delaware men’s tennis team will look to four juniors for leadership as the Blue Hens kick off their spring campaign Sunday with a 3 p.m. match against Morgan State at Sea Colony in Bethany, Del.
Head coach Laura Travis is in her 20th season coaching UD tennis and returns just two two-time letterwinners in Troy Beneck and Jason Derene for the 2013 season as fellow juniors Nolan Gelman and Adam Lawton have one year ofservice under their belts after transferring to Delaware.
Lawton led the Blue Hens this fall as he posted undefeated records of 4-0 and 3-0 and the University of Pennsylvania Tournament and Hampton Roads Tournament, respectively. Beneck also won a singles title at the Hampton Roads Tournament with a 3-0 record.
Sophomore Evan Andrews also returns for his second year with the Blue Hens.
Joining Delaware for their first year of collegiate play are freshmen Mike Furr (at top right) andAlex Sweet. Both come to the Blue Hens following successful high school careers.
Due to construction, Sunday’s match against the Bears is not open to the public.
