The entire squad, 40 women strong, participated in the community service event for the second straight year. The team filled 630 boxes of food for distribution.

"This is the second year we have volunteered time to the Delaware Food Bank and it is always an eye opening experience to learn how many Delawareans are in need," said eighth-year Delaware head coach Laura Slice. "It feels good to give back to the community and know that our small amount of time spent at the Food Bank will greatly impact the lives of so many families."

University of Delaware students, employees, and Blue Hen fans were asked to place their donations in designated boxes that were placed in the lobbies of the Delaware Field House, the Bob Carpenter Center, and the Carpenter Sports Building on the UD campus.

The Blue Hens are currently preparing for the 2011 season and will begin competition March 12 at Saint Joseph's.
