Delaware’s Rachael Conway Earns Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Region Honors

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware senior rower Rachael Conway, who was a four-year letterwinner and served as team captain this past season, has been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region second team.
Conway (at right), a native of Gansevoort, N.Y. (Saratoga Spring High School), was one of 20 student-athletes recognized on the two Mid-Atlantic Region teams and one of just 100 rowers nationally honored on the five all-region squads.
Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations, and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
An honor student as an exercise physiology major with a minor in bio and disabilities studies, Conway capped an outstanding season that saw her also earn All-Colonial Athletic Association honors and capture the team’s UD Alumni Association Most Valuable Player award.
She becomes just the third Blue Hen rower to earn CRCA all-region honors, joining Laura Beaufort (2005) and three-time winner Regine Adrien (2008, 2009, 2010).
Conway was also one of just four CAA rowers honored nationally, joining Northeastern’s Greta Haselmann and Kelsey Flynn, who were named to the New England Region team, and George Mason’s Meredith Bennett, who was a Mid-Atlantic Region selection.
A member of the Blue Hens’ Varsity Eights boat, Conway competed in all seven meets this season and placed sixth at the CAA Championships and 12th at the Dad Vail Regatta. She competed in 25 races during her career and also was a CAA Academic Honor Roll award recipient.
