At Delaware: Second-year member of the squad as a freshman • expected to again start at second base for the Blue Hens • named to College Sports Madness Preseason All-CAA second team.
2011 Season: Named second team All-Colonial Athletic Association • CAA All-Rookie Team selection • named team’s Offensive MVP • started all 55 games during the season, all but two at second base • led the Blue Hens with a .322 batting average, the seventh highest average in the conference • hit .351 in league contests • ranked second on the squad with 46 hits and third with 24 runs scored • tied for fourth in Division I with 17 sacrifice hits • ranked third on the team with 10 multi-hit games • had three hits, five RBI and two runs scored during a doubleheader sweep of Hampton (3/1) • drilled a grand slam in a win over UMES (3/13) • went 3 for 4 with an RBI during a victory over George Mason (3/27) • finished 3 for 3 at Hofstra (4/2) and was 3 for 4 at Army (4/20) • singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning during Delaware’s 2-1 victory over UNC Wilmington (4/22) • had three hits including a double and scored four runs during a twinbill sweep at Drexel (4/30) • named CAA Rookie of the Week on April 25 and CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on May 2 • selected to CAA All-Tournament Team.
High School: Four-year member of the softball team at East Islip High School • All-Suffolk County selection in 2008 and 2009 as a shortstop • named All-League during senior year • led East Islip to the 2009 and 2010 conference championship • honor roll student.
Personal: Michelle McKinnon • daughter of Rich and Terry McKinnon • has an older brother, Tommy, who was a member of the golf team at NCAA Division III Springfield College • honor student as an environmental science major at Delaware • enjoys horseback riding and cooking.
