Blue Hens Head South For Weekend Series at UNCW in Final Road Games of Season

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware softball team will play its final road games of the season this weekend when the Blue Hens head south to take on UNCW in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Boseman Field.
The Blue Hens and Seahawks will play a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday and a 12 noon single game on Sunday. Live stats and free audio streaming will be available for both days at www.uncwsports.com.
Delaware enters the weekend series with an 11-37-1 overall record and sits in sixth place in the CAA standings with a 4-10 league mark. The Seahawks are 8-40 overall and are eighth in the conference with a 3-12 record.
The Blue Hen lineup is paced by freshman third baseman Jessica Grisler, who is batting a team-best .305 with 19 runs scored, 46 hits, and nine doubles. Sophomore Michelle McKinnon is hitting .293 for Delaware, tying for the team lead with Grisler with 19 runs scored while contributing 43 hits and 15 RBI.
Lauryn Buckworth leads the Seahawks with a .287 batting average and 33 hits, while Jordan Critcher is hitting .275 on the season. Amanda Davenport has won seven games in the circle for UNCW while compiling a 3.20 earned run average.
Delaware leads the all-time series with UNCW, 18-9, and the Blue Hens swept a weekend series in Newark last year by posting three one-run victories.
Following this weekend’s action, the Blue Hens close out their regular season on May 4-5 when they host Drexel in a three-game series.
