Blue Hen Freshman Jess Grisler Named Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. –University of Delaware freshman third baseman Jess Grisler was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
Grisler, a native of Sacramento, Calif. (Foothill HS), batted .437 with team-highs of seven hits and five runs scored during the Blue Hens’ four games over the weekend at the Norfolk State Spartan Classic.
She went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored during the Blue Hens’ 13-2 win over Army on Saturday, and added two hits including a triple while again crossing the plate twice in the loss to Monmouth later that day.
Grisler again finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday against Monmouth, before adding a run-scoring single in the nightcap versus Norfolk State.
Grisler, the Blue Hens’ leadoff hitter who has started all 11 games at third base this season, is tied for the team lead with 13 hits and eight runs scored while ranking second on the squad with a .342 batting average and seven RBI.
Grisler and the Blue Hens, who are 3-8 on the young season, will play five games this weekend at the Louisville Slugger Invitational at Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
