UD Softball Winter 2-Day Softball Skills Camp
NEWARK, Del. – Registration is now available for University of Delaware softball winter clinics that will be held in January and February at the Delaware Field House.
The clinics will be run by second-year Blue Hen head coach Jaime Wohlbach, along with Delaware assistants Michele Hawkins and Tenaya Tucker.
On Sunday, Jan. 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. a pitchers clinic and a catchers clinic will be held for girls ages 8-13. Cost of each clinic is $75 per participant. Later that day a catchers clinic for girls ages 14-18 will be held from 12 noon to 3 p.m., while a pitchers clinic for girls ages 14-18 will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost of those two clinics is $90 per participant. Coaches may attend for $45 per person.
Additionally, a winter two-day softball skills camp will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5 in the Delaware Field House. A clinic for girls ages 8-13 will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Saturday (offense only) and Sunday (defense only). The clinic for girls ages 14-18 will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday (offense only) and on Sunday (defense only). The clinic for girls ages 8-13 costs $75 for one day or $135 for both, while the clinic for girls ages 14-18 costs $90 for one day or $165 for both. Coaches may attend for $45 for person.
Participants should bring their own catching gear, helmet and bat, as well as sneakers for indoor training. Pitchers should bring their own catcher to the clinic at no additional charge.
Wohlbach was the 2010 MAAC Coach of the Year at Iona who led the Blue Hens to a CAA Tournament berth last year during her first season in Newark. She was an international player and coach in over 15 countries, and was a WPSL and NPF professional player. Hawkins was also an international player and coach, and was a Big Ten and pro league standout pitcher. Tucker was named the Charlotte 49ers 2011 MVP last year when she was a first team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Region selection.
