Athlete photoHAMPTON, Va. -- Four Blue Hens posted two-hit games while the University of Delaware softball team took advantage of eight Siena errors as UD recorded a 7-3 win over the Saints Saturday morning at the Hampton Lady Pirate Classic.

The Blue Hens, who won their third consecutive game while improving to 12-3 on the year, pounded out 12 hits on the day. Tori Conrad put the Blue Hens on the board in the bottom of the first inning when she ripped a bases loaded single down the leftfield line, driving home Lara Andrews and Michelle McKinnon.

Delaware tacked on a run in the fourth when Shelby Jones reached on an error, stole third base, and scored when Gabby Klecko singled up the middle. The Blue Hens then added four runs in the sixth inning to increase their advantage to 7-0. Jessica Grisler opened the frame with a triple to rightfield, and she immediately scored on a passed ball. Andrews then stole home to put Delaware up five, while McKinnon scored on an error by Saints catcher Chelsea Stout. Brittney Noons capped the rally with an RBI single down the rightfield line, chasing home Hannah George.

Siena, which dropped to 0-5 on the year, finally got on the board with three runs in the top of the seventh. After three singles loaded the bases with one out, Stout delivered a two-run double to leftfield to make it a 7-2 game. Melanie Kalesse then lofted a sacrifice fly to left to drive home Lauren Milligan, but Stout was thrown out at third to end the game.

Delaware freshman pitcher Taylor Curran (at right) went the distance for the Blue Hens, improving to 3-1 after allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Siena starter Antonia Edwards gave up six runs, just one earned, on 10 hits as she fell to 0-1 on the season.

Andrews went 2 for 3 with two runs scored for the Blue Hens, while Conrad was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Grisler finished 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Lisa Stacevicz also had two hits on the day.

Delaware wraps up action at the Hampton Lady Pirate Classic on Sunday when the Blue Hens face Hampton at 11 a.m. and UMES at 1 p.m.
