Delaware's Paige Erickson Earns Final CAA Weekly Honor

RICHMOND, Va. - - After closing out the regular season with two more impressive wins at home, University of Delaware volleyball senior middle hitter Paige Erickson was named as a Colonial Athletic Association Co-Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Delaware (24-5, 13-1 CAA) defeated UNC Wilmington on Friday night before revenging its lone CAA loss against Georgia State on Saturday, at home. Both matches ended in four sets.
Erickson, earning her second Co-Offensive Player of the Week award and third overall this season, hit at a .449 clip this weekend, playing in all eight sets.
Against UNC Wilmington, she tallied a match high with 17 kills to go along with a team high five block assists. Erickson averaged 4.25 kills a game on 27 swings while only committing three errors for a .519 hitting percentage.
In Saturday’s matchup against Georgia State, she posted 10 kills on 22 swings, committing two errors for a .364 attack percentage. She also ended with seven digs, two assists, and four block assists. She only earned the four block assists, but tipped a numerous amount of other attacks, allowing the defense to keep the ball in the air. Her presence also opened the middle of the floor for fellow middle hitter Karina Evans.
This is the fourth week in a row at least one Blue Hen has been awarded a CAA Offensive or Defensive Player of the Week and the tenth time a Delaware student-athlete has been honored this season.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native will lead the Blue Hens into the CAA Tournament this upcoming weekend, as they are preparing to defend their home court against #4 VCU. The first semifinal matchup between #2 James Madison and #3 Northeastern will begin at 5 p.m. before the Blue Hens take the court for a 7:30 p.m. start on Saturday, November 20.
