NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball squad made quick work of visiting Morgan State Tuesday night, needing just over an hour to post a dominating 3-0 victory at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Blue Hens (4-11), who snapped a two-match losing streak, won by scores of 25-5, 25-13, and 25-12 in remaining unbeaten in five all-time meetings vs. Morgan State.

The Bears, who have won just three sets all season, fell to 0-13 on the season. The match lasted just 62 minutes.

Delaware set a school record for fewest amount of points allowed in a three-set match in 25-point rally scoring as the 30 points was the lowest since the Blue Hens allowed just 35 points to Delaware State in a 25-12, 25-11, 25-12 victory on Sept. 23, 2008. The five points scored by Morgan State in the first set was the fewest the Hens have allowed in any match since defeating Hofstra 15-3 in the second set of a 3-2 loss on Nov. 5, 2000.

“Winning doesn’t heal all wounds but it’s going to heal some of them,” said Delaware head coach Bonnie Kenny, whose team hit .349 and registered nine blocks in the victory. “Hopefully our team likes this feeing. We hit some standards tonight that we haven’t been able to hit in other matches this season so hopefully this will be a jump start heading into this Saturday (at home vs. Georgia State).”

Freshmen Mackenzie Olsen dished out 28 assists and Ariel Shonk recorded 15 digs. Hillman added seven digs and Alker added five.

Nangeeshie Plaud led Morgan State with five kills and four digs while Arianna Hayden added four kills and a team-high 10 digs and Jourdan Lemons dished out 13 assists.

Delaware jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and outscored Morgan State 15-2 the rest of the way to easily win the first game by a 25-5 score. Morgan State battled tough in the second game, cutting the Delaware lead to 12-8 on a kill by Ashley Johnson. But the Hens answered back, scoring five straight points and 8 of the next 10 to take control and post a 25-13 victory.

In the deciding third set, a kill by Morgan State’s Lemons tied the game at 7-7 before Delaware scored the next four points on three MSU errors for an 11-7 lead. Delaware then outscored MSU 14-5 to close out the win.
