High School: Two-sport athlete in basketball and volleyball • four year member of the basketball squad and two year volleyball player and Northport High School on Long Island • played center all four years for Richard Castellano • helped squad to a 19-1 record in 2010-11 and a League II Championship • named to all-academic, All-Suffolk County and League II teams • team went 15-2 in her junior season while she earned All-Suffolk County and League II Team honors • won four varsity letters in basketball at Northport and was a member of the Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School teams as an eighth grader • member of the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society • served as Future Educators of America president • landed on the honor roll every year.
Personal: Stephanie Radke Leon ("lee-own") • daughter of William and Virginia Leon • has one older sister, Chelsea and one younger sister, Charlotte • cousins Katie Young and cousin in law Adam Young both attended the University • enjoys photography, kayaking, paddle boarding and reading in her spare time • selected the University of Delaware for its strong academics, as well as the team’s family unit mentality with a supportive coaching staff • began playing basketball when she was five years old and volleyball when she was 12 • looks to John Wooden as her inspiration in basketball and life for the way he connected the two • and influenced by her trainer Jerry Powell for pushing her to work hard and his knowledge of basketball • university studies major at Delaware.
