Vote UD’s Delle Donne as The Premier Player of Women’s College Basketball

TAMPA, Fla. - Sophomore All-American Elena Delle Donne is up for another award and this time it’s up to the fans to vote. Delle Donne is a nominee for the PremierPlayers.com Premier Player of Women’s Basketball, where she is joined by 20 other student-athletes in the polling process.

Delle Donne, a 6-5 Wilmington, Del. native, is one of three sophomores on the ballot, joined by Baylor’s Brittney Griner and Sugar Rodgers of Georgetown, and Delle Donne is the only player from the Colonial Athletic Association to be named.
She currently leads the nation in scoring average, putting up 27.4 points per game. Delle Donne is also ranked No. 2 in three-point field goal percentage, knocking down 61.1 percent (11-18) of her attempts and is one of just two forwards in the top 10. At the charity stripe, Delle Donne is one of the country’s top shooters, ranking 17th with a percentage of .938.
For her career, Delle Donne (at right) has put up 911 points, needing just 89 to reach the 1,000 point plateau. She has played in only 34 games, averaging 26.7 points per game. Delle Donne also ranks No. 10 in career blocked shots, knocking away 68 opponent attempts, averaging 2.0 blocks per outing.
The Blue Hens are off to the programs best start since the 1992-93 season, opening with a 5-0 record. Delaware takes on the 3-2 Tigers of Princeton University Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Bob Carpenter Center.
