NEWARK, Del. -- Registration is now underway for both sessions of the 2012 Tina Martin Girl’s Basketball Camps at the University of Delaware.
The annual camp, headed by one of the nation’s most successful coaches, her staff, and team members, will be held once again this summer with week-long sessions set for June 18-22 and August 6-10. Both camps will be held at the Bob Carpenter Center located at the UD Athletics Complex on South College Avenue in Newark.
Campers will have the opportunity to learn from those associated with one of the nation’s top collegiate women’s basketball programs. The Blue Hens were ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation this past season after compiling a record of 31-2, capturing the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Martin was named the CAA Coach of the Year and is currently a candidate for National Coach of the Year honors.
The camp is designed for girls ages 8-17 and will teach and develop the fundamental basketball skills and enable every girl to increase her understanding of the game; provide competition, enabling each player to apply skills and techniques as they are learned; and help develop each player’s attitude and philosophy about basketball and life through good sportsmanship and fair play.
The cost is $230 per camper and includes instruction, a free camp t-shirt, awards, and guest lectures. Go to the UD Athletics Website at www.bluehens.com to fill out a registration form
The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day with before and after care available for an extra fee of $50. Campers must bring their own lunch and beverages.
Group discounts of $25 off are available for each participant in a group of 10 or more. Walk-up registrations will be received if space is available.
