Cross Country - Fourth-year member of the Blue Hens who has earned three letters. 2011 Season: Competed in six meets for the Blue Hens • finished 67at the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational in 22:01 and was 132nd at the Fordham Invitational on 21:28 • ran the Delaware Invitational in 25:06 to finish 33rd, and was 341st at the Paul Short Invitational with a time of 24:20 • placed 16th at the Blue & Gold Invitational in 25:14 and was 101st in 20:00 at the ECAC Championships. 2010 Season: Competed in all seven events for Delaware • finished 69th at the Penn State Invitational in 23:45.0 and 14th at the Delaware Invitational in 19:41.6 • placed 246th at the Paul Short Invitational in 23:46 and 11th at the Blue & Gold Invitational in 19:29.30 • came in 40th place at the CAA Championships in 23:01 and 103rd at the NCAA Regionals in 23:07 • finished 85th at the ECAC Championships in 19:51.9. 2009 Season: Competed in all seven events as a freshman • finished 71st at the ECAC Championships in 18:55.1 • placed 12th at the Delaware Invitational in 19:20.36 • came in 12th at the Blue & Gold Invitational in 19:35.4 • finished 28th at the James Madison Open in 20:15.3 • was 161st at the Paul Short Invitational in 22:24 • placed 30th at the CAA Championships in 22:48.43 • finished 60th at the NCAA Regional Championships in 23:16 • named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll • earned the Team Outstanding Rookie Award.
Indoor Track & Field - Fourth-year member and three-year letterwinner on the squad. 2011-12 Season: Ran the 1,000 meters in 3:29.56 at the Delaware Invitational and the mile in 5:41.55 at the Thomson Invitational • finished the 3,000 meters in 10:54.59 at the Collegiate Challenge and the 5,000 meters in 18:33.66 at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational. 2010-11 Season: Ran the 1,000 meters in 3:25.54 and the mile in 5:42.19 at the Thomson Invitational • finished the 3,000 meters in 10:51.00 at the Collegiate Challenge and the 5,000 meters in 18:37.91 at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational. 2009-10 Season: Won the 5,000 meters at the John Covert Classic • recorded a season-best time of 18:38.22 in the 5,000 meters at New York Fasttrack Invitational • finished 18th in the 3,000 meters at the Penn State Northeast Challenge • earned an eighth-place finish in the mile with a time of 5:38.59 at the Delaware Invitational.
Outdoor Track & Field - Fourth-year member of the team who has earned three letters. 2012 Season: Finished the 1,500 meters in 5:12.59 at the VCU Invitational and the 5,000 meters in 18:26.26 at the Navy Invitational • ran the 10,000 meters in 37:57.39 at the Colonial Relays, the eighth fastest time in school history. 2011 Season: Won the 5,000 meters at the Golden Ram Invitational • ran the 800 meters in 2:44.52 at the Towson Invitational • finished the 5,000 meters in a season-best time of 18:24.61 at the Penn Invitational. 2010 Season: Finished eighth in the 5,000 meters at the CAA Championships in 18:24.65, the second best time by a Blue Hen in the event during the year • posted a season-best time of 2:41.02 in the 800 meters at the Delaware Open I • took eighth place in the 1,500 meters during the West Chester Open Invitational • named to CAA Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Competed in cross country, track and field, and soccer at Smyrna High School • ran the 800 meters and mile in track and played midfielder in soccer • captured the 2008 conference cross country title as a senior when she also placed ninth in the state • won conference two-mile run crown as a senior in indoor track and finished sixth in that event and seventh in the mile at the state meet • led soccer team to the state tournament as a senior • also earned all-conference honors in cross country as a sophomore • National Honor Society student • was Student Government Association President • served as class historian.
Personal: Katherine Anne "Katie" Deinert • born Oct. 21, 1991 • daughter of Steve and Anne Deinert • has one older brother • history education major at Delaware with a minor in landscape horticulture • enjoys water skiing in her spare time • has visited 13 foreign counties, including Iceland • both parents are University of Delaware graduates and brother currently attends UD • father is an arborist and mother is a special education teacher • is a resident assistant in the Christiana Towers • worked at Rita's Italian Ice during the summer.
