RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware junior Lindsay Prettyman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday after she captured the Lehigh Invitational individual title last Friday.
Prettyman covered the six-kilometer course in 22:34.63 as she captured her first career meet title and also led the Blue Hens to the team championship.
Prettyman, a native of Newark, Del. (St. Mark’s), posted her fourth career top 10 finish and recorded the fastest time by a Blue Hen for the seventh time in eight races. She became the first Delaware runner to capture an individual meet title since Julia Somers won the Delaware Invitational crown in 2009.
Prettyman helped lead Delaware to the team title as well, as the Blue Hens placed four runners in the top 10 to finish with 26 points. The team championship was Delaware’s first since winning its own Blue & Gold Invitational in 2010.
The conference award was the first for Prettyman, who was named the team’s Most Valuable Player a year ago.
Prettyman and the Blue Hens are back in action this Saturday when they compete in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
