Andrea Slane Leads Blue Hen Women’s Golfers To Fifth Place Tie Following First Round of Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Blue Hen freshman Andrea Slane carded a four over par 76 and is tied for sixth place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware women’s golf team is tied for fifth in the team standings following the first day of the Rutgers Invitational on Friday.

The host Scarlet Knights lead the 19-team field after posting a 303 team score, while Boston College is second at 305 and St. John’s is third at 312. Seton Hall sits in fourth place with a 315 score, while Delaware and Hartford are tied for fifth at 318.

Slane (at right) posted the low score by a Blue Hen on the day with her four over 40-36-76 on the par 72, 6,034-yard Rutgers University Golf Course. Junior Frida Nilsson is tied for 17th after carding a six over par 40-38-78, while freshman Annie Bowlsby fired an eight over par 38-42-80 to finish the day tied for 32nd place.

Freshman Sarah Skurla is tied for 58th place after she carded a 12 over par 40-44-84, while classmate Amanda Terzian recorded a 14 over par 42-44-86 and ended the day in a tie for 70th place.

Eunice Yim of Boston College is the individual leader after carding a two over par 38-36-74, while four players are just one shot back.

The second and final round of the Rutgers Invitational begins Saturday at 8:15 a.m.
