Delaware Women’s Golfers Finish Fifth at Rutgers Invitational; Slane Ninth in Individual Standings

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf team posted its second top-five finish through its first three tournaments of the fall as the Blue Hens placed fifth out of 19 squads this weekend at the Rutgers Invitational.
After posting a 318 team score during Friday’s first round, Delaware shot a 323 on Saturday to finish the weekend at 641. Boston College captured the team title with a 616 score, while Rutgers was just two shots behind at 618. St. John’s finished third at 630, while Seton Hall was fourth at 637 and the Blue Hens rounded out the top five.
Delaware freshman Andrea Slane (at right) shot a seven over par 79 on Saturday on the par 72, 6,034-yard Rutgers University Golf Course and finished ninth in the individual standings with an 11 over par 76-79-155.
Fellow freshman Annie Bowlsby tied Slane for the team’s lowest round of the day by also carding a seven over 79 on Saturday, and she tied for 20th place with a 15 over par 80-79-159. Junior Frida Nilsson ended the tournament with a 19 over par 78-85-163 to finish in a tie for 37th place, while freshman Sarah Skurla carded a 20 over par 84-80-164 to tie for 42nd place.
Freshman Amanda Terzian recorded a 32 over par 86-90-176 for the tournament, finishing in 81st place.
Kortnie Maxoutopouli of Rutgers earned medalist honors at the invitational after carding a six over par 75-75-150 for the weekend to post a two-stroke victory.
Delaware is back in action on October 23-25 when the Blue Hens compete in the Florida International-Pat Bradley Invitational at Pelican Preserve Golf Course in Fort Myers, Fla.
