Skurla Helps Blue Hen Women’s Golf Team Maintain 10th Place Position After Second Round of FIU Pat Bradley Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Freshman Sarah Skurla fired a four over par 76 on Monday and is tied for 27th place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware women’s golf team stayed in 10th place following the second day of the 34th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational.
Host Florida International leads the 15-team field with a two-round score fo 592, while Eastern Michigan is just two shots behind at 594. Stetson sits in third place at 602, North Texas is fourth at 303, and Boston College rounds out the top five at 605. Delaware recorded a 317 on Sunday before improving to 313 on Monday, maintaining its 10th place position with a 630 two-round team score.
Skurla (at right) followed up her 79 on Sunday with a 76 on Monday on the par 72, 6,239-yard Egret to Ibis Course at Pelican Preserve & Country Club and is tied for 27th place with an 11 over par 79-76-155. She opened her second round with a birdie, and after falling to two over for the round through eight holes, parred the next seven holes of her round. Following a pair of bogeys on 16 and 17, Skurla closed with a par to finish the day at four over.
Junior Frida Nilsson shot a team-best 78 on Sunday and carded a seven over par 79 during Monday’s second round, ending the day tied for 38th place with a 13 over par score of 78-79-157. She was three over par through eight holes, but rebounded to par the next two before a birdie on 11 to improve to two over for the day. However Nilsson recorded three more bogeys and a double bogey to conclude her round at seven over par.
Freshman Baralee Theinthong followed her Sunday round of 81 with a season-low 77 on Monday, and is tied for 45th place with a 14 over par 81-77-158 entering Tuesday’s final round. Theinthong used birdies on the second and ninth holes to finish the front nine at just one over, and following four consecutive bogeys, closed her round with four straight pars to finish the day at five over par.
Freshman Andrea Slane shot a seven over 79 on Sunday but slipped to a 12 over par 84 on Monday, ending the day in a tie for 60th place with a 79-84-163, 19 over par. Slane was just three over par through the front nine during Monday’s round, but a quadruple bogey and double bogey led to a nine over back nine as she finished the round at 12 over.
Freshman Annie Bowlsby improved four shots from her opening round of 85, carding a nine over par 81 during Monday’s round to finish the day tied for 66th place with a 22 over par score of 85-81-166. Bowlsby birdied the second hole and was four over through the front nine, before a five over back nine led to her 81 for the round.
Alex Buelow of Stetson leads the individual standings with an even par 74-70-144, while two players are just one shot behind.
The FIU Pat Bradley Invitational concludes Tuesday with the third and final round beginning at 7:30 a.m.
