Skurla Tied for 10th Place, Blue Hen Women’s Golfers Eighth Following First Round of Fighting Camel Fall Classic

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Blue Hen freshman Sarah Skurla fired a five over par 77 and is tied for 10th place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware women’s golf team is eighth in the team standings on Monday following the first round of the Fighting Camel Fall Classic hosted by Campbell University.
The host Camels lead the 12-team field with a first round score of 296, while Old Dominion is in second place 11 shots back at 307. Illinois sits in third place at 308, while Wichita State is fourth at 318 and Georgetown is fifth at 322. Following Eastern Kentucky at 323 and North Dakota State at 329, the Blue Hens are in eighth place with a 330 team score.
Skurla (at right) fired a 37-40-77 on the par 72, 6,012-yard course at Keith Hills Country Club to finish the round tied for 10th place. Her opening round featured birdies on the first and seventh holes, while she also had four bogeys and a double bogey.
Freshman Annie Bowlsby ended the round tied for 25th place with an eight over par 38-42-80. Bowlsby birdied the third hole during a two over par front nine and carding a six over par back nine.
Freshman Baralee Theinthong fired a 14 over par 40-46-86 during her first round, tying for 53rd place in the standings. Theinthong posted her lone birdie on the 10th hole, while also recording seven pars during the round.
Junior Frida Nilsson is tied for 55th place after her opening round of 42-45-87, 15 over par. Nilsson had seven pars on the round to go with eight bogeys and two double bogeys.
Freshman Amanda Terzian, playing as an individual, carded a 16 over par 44-44-88 and ended the round in 59th place. Terzian recorded her only birdie of the round on the ninth hole and also had four pars on the round.
Classmate Andrea Slane carded a 17 over par 42-47-89 and ended the round in 60th place in the individual standings, while Emma Sills shot a 22 over par 43-51-94 to finish the round in 66th place.
The second round was approximately halfway completed before play was suspended due to rain. The round will besure with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, followed by the third and final round.
