Amanda Terzian Ties For 10th Place, Blue Hen Women’s Golfers Ninth at Wisconsin Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wisc. -- Blue Hen freshman Amanda Terzian finished in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings while the Blue Hens were ninth in the team standings as the University of Delaware women’s golf team competed in the Wisconsin Badger Invitational this Sunday and Monday.

After carding a seven over par 79 during Sunday’s first round on the par 72, 6,205-yard University Ridge Golf Course, Terzian (at right) completed her second round of three over 75 Monday morning before firing another 79 during the third round. Playing as an individual, Terzian finished with a 17 over par 79-75-79-233 to post her first top 10 finish as a Blue Hen.

Sarah Skurla, who recorded an eight over par 80 on Sunday, came back to card a pair of six over par rounds of 78 and finished in 21st place with a 20 over par score of 80-78-78-236. Andrea Slane was tied for sixth place after her opening round of two over par 74, but fired an 82 and 81 during her final two rounds and placed 22nd with a 21 over par 74-82-81-237.

Junior Frida Nilsson bounced back from an opening round 85 to record a four over par 76 during her second round, and finished her tournament with an 83. She carded a 28 over par 85-76-83-244 to finish in 35th place in the standings.

Annie Bowlsby shot an 81 on Sunday before again firing an 81 in her second, and closed the tournament with an 85 to finish in 39th place with a 31 over par 81-81-85-247. Baralee Theinthong carded an 83-88-89-260 to finish the tournament in 48th place at 44 over par.

Felicia Espericueta earned medalist honors at the invitational by carding a one under par 70-72-73-215 to win the tournament by a commanding six strokes.

The host Badgers captured the team title with a three-round score of 908, while SMU was 10 shots behind at 918. Illinois State finished third at 929, while Wisconsin “B” came in fourth at 938 and Georgetown rounded out the top five at 940. Bucknell finished sixth at 948 followed by Drake at 949, North Dakota State at 958, Delaware at 962, and Illinois-Chicago at 993.

The Blue Hens take next weekend off before competing in the Rutgers Invitational on October 14-15 in Piscataway, N.J.
