Delaware Women’s Golf Team Posts Top Finish of Season by Placing Fourth at The Spider at St. James Invitational

SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf team shot its lowest round of the tournament with a 324 on Sunday and finished fourth out of 12 teams this weekend at The Spider at St. James Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond.
The Blue Hens, whose fourth place finish is the program’s highest during its inaugural season, finished with a three-round total of 983. Boston College and Charleston Southern tied for the team title as each squad posted 963 scores, while UNC Pembroke placed third with a 977 score.
Delaware freshman Andrea Slane recorded the highest finish of her rookie season by tying for seventh place with a 24 over par score of 79-80-81-240 on the par 72, 6,166-yard Reserve Course at St. James Plantation Golf Course.
Junior Frida Nilsson (at right) had the lowest round by a Blue Hen on Sunday as she fired an eight over par 80 and finished in a tie for 13th place with a 29 over par score of 84-81-80-245. Freshman Annie Bowlsby shot an 81 during her final round, finishing in a tie for 19th place with an 83-83-81-247, 31 over par.
Freshman Baralee Theinthong also improved during her third round with an 82, and finished in a tie for 28th place at 84-85-82-251, 35 over par. Classmate Amanda Terzian was the fourth Blue Hen whose score on Sunday was their lowest of the weekend, as she also carded an 82 to place 53rd with a 41 over par score of 99-86-82-267.
Katia Joo of Boston College earned medalist honors with a 14 over par score of 76-78-76-230, while Jennifer Dilger of Winthrop finished four shots back.
The Blue Hens are back in action on March 18-20 when they compete in the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
