Nilsson, Theinthong Lead Blue Hen Women’s Golfers To Dual Meet Victory Over Cal State Monterey Bay

Athlete photoSEASIDE, Calif. -- Blue Hen junior Frida Nilsson (at right) and freshman Baralee Theinthong each shot a three over par 75 to lead the University of Delaware women’s golf team to a victory in its first ever dual meet, a 308-321 win over Cal State Monterey Bay Wednesday afternoon.

Nilsson and Theinthong each tied for second place by carding a 75 on the par 72, 5,900-yard Black Horse Golf Course, as both players recorded their lowest rounds of the year.

Freshman Annie Bowlsby fired a six over par 78 on the day to finish in fourth place, while classmate Andrea Slane was fifth with an eight over par 80. Freshman Amanda Terzian posted a 15 over par 87 during her round to finish ninth while fellow freshman Emma Sills, playing as an individual, carded a 25 over par 97 to come in 10th place.

CSUMB’s Courtney Soekland recorded the best round of the day with a two over par 74, but the next four lowest scores belonged to the Blue Hens. Keegan Dominguez finished in sixth place for the Otters with a nine over par 81, while Melissa Conroy was seventh with a 10 over par 82 and McKenna Corriea placed eighth with a 12 over par 84.
