Filler Tied For Individual Lead, Delaware Women's Golf Team Second After First Day of Season-Opening Tignanelli Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md. -- Blue Hen freshman Nathalie Filler, playing in her first collegiate tournament, is tied for the individual lead while the University of Delaware women’s golf team sits in second place on Sunday following the first round of the season-opening Tignanelli Towson Invitational.
Filler (at right) carded a two over par 74 during her opening round on the par 72, 6,619-yard course at Towson Golf & Country Club, and is tied for the lead with Jennifer Neville of St. John’s. Two players are one shots behind the co-leaders, while two other players are two shots back.
St. John’s leads the 18-team field with a 305 team score, while the Blue Hens posted a 309 score to finish the day in second place. William & Mary and Old Dominion are tied for third place at 312, while Hofstra rounds out the top five at 322.
Delaware senior Frida Nillson fired a five over par 77 to end the day tied for seventh place in the individual standings. Sophomore Annie Bowlsby and freshman Vimonthip Benjasupawan each fired a seven over par 79 to tie for 20th place, while sophomore Baralee Theinthong is tied for 62nd place after she carded a 16 over par 88.
The Tignanelli Towson Invitational concludes Monday with the second and final round.
