University of Delaware Women Register Three Top Five Finishes at Final Day of New Balance Collegiate Invitational Track Meet

NEW YORK -- Led by a third place overall finish by Vicky Caruso in the 200 meters and two fifth place finishes in the relay events the University of Delaware women’s indoor track & field squad finished up a successful weekend at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Saturday at the New York City Armory.
Caruso, a sophomore, posted the Blue Hens’ best finish in the two-day event as she placed third overall in the 200 meters with a time of 25.17, trailing only winner Letecia Wright of Ohio State (24.03) and runner-up Ashley Harris of Tennessee (24.63).
Caruso also had a hand in the 4 x 200 meter relay team that placd fifth as she teamed with Asia Hollis (at right), Nijah Dupiche, and Kristi Cox with a time of 1:40.74.
The Hens also had a fifth place finish in the 4 x 400 meter relay as the group of Caruso, Dupiche, Hollis, and Cox raced to a time of 3:47.71 overall.
In addition, the Blue Hens’ 4 x 800 meter relay team fished seventh overall with a time of 9:29.0 while Jen Watunya posted a 14th place showing in the 5,000 meters (18:05.36) and a 15th place performance by Jessie Ermak (18:12.09) in the same event.
Delaware will return to action this Friday, Feb. 11, when the Hens travel to New York to compete in the Lafayette/Rider Invitational at the New York City Armory.
