University of Delaware Women's Indoor Track Posts 10 Top 10 Finishes at Gotham Cup Invitational

NEW YORK -- University of Delaware women’s indoor track & field athletes posted 10 top 10 finishes, including a pair of runner-up showings in the long jump and the 4 x 400 meter relay to highlight action at the Gotham Cup Invitational hosted by New York University Friday night at the New York City Armory.
Freshman Paige Morris posted the third best long jump distance in Delaware history in placing second in that event with a leap of 18-5, just five inches off the UD freshman record, while the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Vicky Caruso, Nijah Dupiche, Asia Hollis, and Kristi Cox (at right) also teamed for a runner-up finish with a time of 3:49.92.
Delaware had eight other top 10 finishes as Courtney Markow was fourth in the pole vault (10-8), Emily Gispert was fourth in the 800 meters (2:22.94) and teamed with Lindsay Prettyman, Carly Simmons, and Alyssa Kennedy to finish fifth in the 4 x 800 meter relay (9:45.83), Prettyman posted a seventh place showing in the seeded 800 meters (2:19.25), Briana Gray was eighth in the high jump (5-3), Jennifer Watunya was eighth in the 5,000 meters (18:12.09), Jessie Ermak was ninth in the 5,000 meters (18:24.25), and Rachel Wasserman posted a ninth place showing in the 800 meters (2:24.55).
Kennedy was also 12th in the mile (5:26.45), Cox was 13th in the 400 meters (58.97), Hollis was 18th in the 400 meters (59.68), and Caruso was 18th in the 60 meters (7.99).
Delaware will continue action next Friday when the Blue Hens again travel to the New York City Armory to compete in the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University at Albany.
