Caruso Captures 200 Meter Race as University of Delaware Women Compete at Great Dane Invitational

NEW YORK -- University of Delaware sophomore Vicky Caruso (at right) captured the 200 meter race and then teamed with Nijah Dupiche, Asia Hollis, and Kristi Cox to finish sixth in the 4 x 400 meter relay to lead the Blue Hen women’s indoor track and field team at the Great Dane Invitational hosted by the University at Albany Friday at the New York City Armory.
Caruso, who captured her 15th career meet championship in just her second collegiate season, won the 200 meters title with a time of 24.62 and then joined Dupiche, Hollis, and Cox to place sixth in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 3:51.77. She also competed in the 60 meter dash and finished 20th with a time of 7.96.
Also for the Blue Hens, Cox placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.70 and was 31st in the 200 meters (26.28), Dupiche was 11th in the 400 meters (58.64) and 40th in the 200 meters (26.79), and Hollis was 23rd in the 60 meters (8.00) and 27th in the 200 meters (26.09).
Despite having just four runners compete, Delaware placed 14th in the team standings with 17 total points. Host Albany won the team title with 103 points followed by Pittsburgh, Penn, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monmouth, Long Island, Villanova, La Salle, Morgan State, and Manhattan in the 18-team field.
