Markow Finishes Second in Pole Vault, Paciorek Eighth in Pentathlon for Delaware at Lehigh Mountain Hawk Track Meet

BETHLEHEM, PA -- Freshman Courtney Markow posted a second place finish in the pole vault to lead a group of four University of Delaware athletes who competed at the Moutain Hawk Multi and Invite Indoor Track & Field Meet this weekend at Lehigh University’s Rauch Field House.

Markow finished second in the pole vault with a leap of 11-feet, 1 3/4-inches , junior Lauren Paciorek (at right) was eighth in the pentathlon with 2,195 points, and sophomore Jessica McDonald and junior Jaclyn Marangella tied for 18th in the pole vault. McDonald and Marangella did not reach the minimum height in three attempts.

Markow finished second in the pole vault behind Moravian’s Abigail Schaffer, who leaped to a winning height of 12-feet, 1 1/2 inches.

Paciorek competed in the pentathlon for the first time this season and recorded an eighth place finish with 2,195 points. Astor Brooke of Lehigh took first place in the event with 3,180 points followed by West Virginia’s Ashli Knotts with 2,926 points.

Paciorek posted her best finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 10.01. She also placed seventh in both the 800 meters (3:05.71) and long jump (15-4) and was eighth in the high jump (4-2 1/4) and in the shot put (21-8 1/4).
