University of Delaware Wins Nine Events at John Covert Indoor Track & Field Classic at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women’s indoor track & field dominated the action Saturday at the 20th annual John Covert Track & Field Class at Lehigh University’s Rauch Field House as the Blue Hens took first place in nine events in the non-scoring meet.
Delaware, which got double-win efforts from jumper Paige Morris, distance runner Alyssa Kennedy, and sprinter Ali Muro (at right), captured half of the 18 events to cap a successful day on the track.
Morris won two events as she captured the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying leap of 18-feet, 10 1/2-inches and added a second title with a winning leap of 37-10 3/4 in the triple jump.
Muro won the first two events of her career as she captured the 200 meters with a clocking of 27.16 and added a second first place finish with a time of 1:01.21 in the 400 meters.
Kennedy was the third Blue Hen with multiple wins as she captured the mile run with a time of 5:24.64 and then teamed with Allie Gedney, Francine Gebbia, and Katrina Steenkamer to win the 4 x 800 meters in a time of 10:47.05.
Also winning titles for the Blue Hens were Nicole Daly in the 5,000 meters (18:39.09), Mirando Reinson in the pole vault (10-10), and Aretah Ettarh in the shot put (40-2).
Delaware also collected seven second place finishes led by Mckensie Walker in the 500 meters (1:22.42), Gabrielle Coleman in the 60 meters (8.28), Kelsey Evancho in the high jump (5-1), Courtney Markow in the pole vault (10-10), Alana Pantale in the shot put (40-1 1/4), and Hannah Pepper in the triple jump (36-7). Walker also teamed with Hannah DeMartino, Tyonna Brooks, and Rachel Wasserman to finish second in the 4 x 400 meter relay in a time of 4:18.03.
