Caruso, James Advance to Finals, Foster Eighth in 400 Meters for Delaware Women’s Indoor Track & Field at First Day of ECAC Meet

BOSTON -- Vicky Caruso and Latoya James both advanced to the finals and University of Delaware athletes posted two other top 20 finishes and established a new school record to highlight the first day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
The second and final day of the meet will be held Sunday with the Blue Hens competing in six events, including Caruso in the 200 meters, James in the 60 meter hurdles, Morris in the triple jump, the 4 x 400 meter relay, the 4 x 800 meter relay, and the distance medley relay.
Caruso placed fourth in the 200 meter preliminaries with a time of 24.46 to advance to Sunday’s finals while James ran a time of 8.58 in the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries and 8.60 in the semifinals to advance to the finals.
Also for the Blue Hens, freshman Toresha Foster was eighth in the preliminaries of the 400 meters (56.14), the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Lindsay Prettyman (at right), Emily Gispert, Alexandra Gervais, and Alex Carroll placed 12th with a time of 9:14.45, Prettyman was 23rd in the 800 meters (2:14.02), and Kelsey Evancho was 27th in the high jump (5-4 1/2). Paige Morris competed in the long jump but fouled on each attempt.
Prettyman’s time of 2:14.02 in the 800 meters broke her own school record of 2:14.35 set earlier this season.
