Delaware Posts 10 Top 10 Finishes at George Mason Last Chance Meet; Gispert, Dupiche Qualify for ECAC

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The University of Delaware recorded 10 top 10 finishes and Nijah Dupiche and Emily Gispert each delivered ECAC qualifying times to lead the Blue Hens at the George Mason University Last Chance Indoor Track & Field Meet Sunday at the George Mason Field House.
A total of 12 Blue Hen student-athletes competed in seven events at the meet, which gives individuals a last chance to qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships to be held March 2-3 at Boston University.
Dupiche and Gispert took advantage of their last chance as Gispert placed third in the 1,000 meters in an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:56.47 while Dupiche (at right) placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.48 to qualify.
Gispert’s third place finish was the highest of any Blue Hen competitor at the meet Sunday. Dupiche also competed in the 200 meters Sunday and placed 12th overall with a time of 26.06.
Latoya James placed sixth in the long jump (17-6 1/4) for the Blue Hens while Rachel Wasserman was sixth in the 1,000 meters (3:02.39), Katrina Steenkamer was sixth in the 3,000 meters (10:35.63), Lindsay Guptill was seventh in the 500 meters (1:20.18), Michele White was seventh in the long jump (17-2), Chelsi Campbell was eighth in both the 200 meters (25.87) and 400 meters (58.05), Miranda Reinson was ninth in the pole vault (10-10), and Paige Morris was 10th in the long jump (16-5).
Delaware will have 26 athletes compete in 12 events at the ECAC Championships next week.
