OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- University of Delaware women's lacrosse assistant coach Kristen Carr was recognized for her outstanding play in the North American Challenge Cup on Saturday as the midfielder was named Player of the Match for Team USA.
Carr scooped up a team-high five ground balls and forced four turnovers en route to a 21-4 victory for the U.S. national senior team over Canada. She also stepped up to take draw controls, helping the U.S. to a 20-8 advantage.
"When we play high pressure defense, we definitely like our opponents to feel frazzled, not knowing what they’re going to do next with the ball,” said Carr. “That type of pressure makes for a killer team D."
With the win over Canada, the U.S. improved to 2-0 at the North American Challenge Cup, and has beaten its opponents by a combined 41-4 margin.
For the North American Challenge Cup, Team Canada was divided into two squads, Red and White. The U.S. will play Canada White Sunday at 10 a.m. EST.
