Kristen Carr to Present at US National Lacrosse Convention Sunday

January 10, 2013

Athlete photoPHILADELPHIA, Pa. – As a member of the United States Women’s Lacrosse National Training Team roster, current University of Delaware assistant coach Kristen Carr will hold a presentation on draws this weekend at the annual US Lacrosse National Convention.

Carr will discuss draw techniques and what is important when drawing or preparing for a draw on Sunday at 10:15 a.m.  Additionally, Carr and her US National teammates will sign autographs on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Carr, who is in her second season as an assistant with the Blue Hens under head coach Kateri Linville, was one of 25 players selected to the US Women’s National Team in December.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Carr was a standout at the University of North Carolina where she led the Tar Heels to a four-year record of 60-20 and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2009, a semifinals berth in 2010 and trips to the quarterfinals in 2007 and 2008.  She appeared in 81 games with 62 starts and recorded 21 goals and nine assists while setting a UNC career record with 174 draw controls as a defensive midfielder.

Carr also set UNCE single game (eight) and single season (64) marks for draw controls.  She earned first team All-American and first team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2010 as one of the nation’s top draw control specialists and led the nation’s third-ranked defense that allowed just 7.25 goals per game.

The US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion, will be held Friday, Jan. 11 through Sunday, Jan. 13 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.  It is annually the largest and most comprehensive educational and networking event in the lacrosse world for coaches, officials and administrators.

The 2012 national convention drew a record 7,064 participants and US Lacrosse expects the 2013 convention to be better than ever.

The convention is open to all US Lacrosse members age 18 and older; however, a Fan Fest will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public.  US Lacrosse invites fans of all ages to experience the largest lacrosse-specific expo hall in the world, with nearly 150 exhibitors showcasing the hottest new sticks, equipment, uniforms, apparel and more.  Fans will have an exciting opportunity to view demonstrations on two turf fields, featuring players from the US National Teams and the Philadelphia Wings.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located at 1101 Arch Street in Philadelphia.
