The Champion Challenge, presented annually by US Lacrosse, is back for an eighth consecutive year at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.  The U.S. Women will take on defending NCAA champion Northwestern on Sunday at 11 .m.  The game will be shown live on ESPN3 and fans are encouraged to use the hashtag, #USAvsNW, on Twitter for the contest.

In addition to a full slate of exhibition games, the U.S. National Teams will host instructional clinics for youth and high school players on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Carr presented draw techniques and what is important when drawing or preparing for a draw at the US Lacrosse National Convention.

Carr, who is in her second season as an assistant with the Blue Hens under head coach Kateri Linville, was one of 25 players selected to the US Women’s National Team in December.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Carr was a standout at the University of North Carolina where she led the Tar Heels to a four-year record of 60-20 and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2009, a semifinals berth in 2010 and trips to the quarterfinals in 2007 and 2008.  She appeared in 81 games with 62 starts and recorded 21 goals and nine assists while setting a UNC career record with 174 draw controls as a defensive midfielder.

Carr also set UNCE single game (eight) and single season (64) marks for draw controls.  She earned first team All-American and first team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2010 as one of the nation’s top draw control specialists and led the nation’s third-ranked defense that allowed just 7.25 goals per game.

Delaware women’s lacrosse opens the 2013 slate with preseason exhibition contests against No. 4 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke.  The Blue Hens kick off the regular season Saturday, Feb. 16 as they host No. 13 Georgetown at noon at Delaware Stadium.
