Second-year member of the Blue Hen cross country and track and field squads as a sophomore • 2009 Season: Competed in all seven events as a freshman, earning a letter • finished 71st at the ECAC Championships in 18:55.1 • finished 12th at the Delaware Invitational in 19:20.36 • finished 12th at the Blue & Gold Invitational in 19:35.4 • finished 28th at the James Madison Open in 20:15.3 • finished 161st at the Paul Short Invitational in 22:24 • finished 30th at the CAA Championships in 22:48.43 • finished 60th at the NCAA Regional Championships in 23:16 • named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll • earned the Team Outstanding Rookie Award. 2010 Season: Competed in all seven meets for the women's cross country team • broke the 20 minute mark three times during the season, coming in 14th at the Delaware Invitational in 19:41.6, finishing in 11th at the Blue & Gold Invitational in 19:29.30 and finishing in 85th at the ECAC Championships in 19:51.9 • finished in 92nd at Penn State in 23:45 • came in 246th place at the Paul Short Invitational with a time of 23:46 • finished in 40th at the CAA Championships in 23:01 • came in 103rd place at the NCAA Regional Championships in 23:07.

Indoor Track: 2009-10 season: Competed in three events, earning a letter • won the 5,000-meter at the John Covert Indoor Track Classic • recorded a season-best 18:38.22 at New York University Fastrack Invitational in the 5,000 meter • finished 18th in the 3,000 meters at the Penn State Northeast Challenge • earned an eighth-place finish in the mile at the University of Delaware Track & Field Invitational (5:38.59).

Outdoor Track:2010 season: Earned a letter • recorded a Delaware second-best 18:24.65 in the 5,000 meters at the CAA Championships (8th place) • posted a season-best 2:41.02 in the 800 meters at the Delaware Open I • took eighth place in 1,500 meters during the West Chester Open Invitational • named to CAA Academic Honor Roll.

High School: Competed in cross country, track and field, and soccer at Smyrna High School • ran the 800 meters and mile in track and played midfielder in soccer • captured the 2008 conference cross country title as a senior when she also placed ninth in the state • won conference two-mile run crown as a senior in indoor track and finished sixth in that event and seventh in the mile at the state meet • led soccer team to the state tournament as a senior • also earned all-conference honors in cross country as a sophomore • National Honor Society student • was Student Government Association President • served as class historian.

Personal: Katherine Anne "Katie" Deinert • born Oct. 21, 1991 • daughter of Steve and Anne Deinert • has one older brother • history education major at Delaware with a minor in landscape horticulture • enjoys water skiing in her spare time • has visited 13 foreign counties, including Iceland • both parents are University of Delaware graduates and brother currently attends UD • father is an arborist and mother is a special education teacher • worked at Coldstone Creamery and Rita's Water Ice during the summer.
