Morris, Jensen Win Titles to Lead Delaware Women at Tuppany Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- University of Delaware track and field athletes picked up three first place finishes and placed in the top 10 in 12 events overall to highlight the Tuppany Twilight Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore College Saturday evening at Walter T. Skallerup Jr. Track.

Rachel Jensen captured the women’s hammer throw with a toss of 144-feet, 6-inches and also placed sixth in the discus (113-1), Paige Morris (at right) won the women’s long jump with a leap of 18-5 1/4, and Joe Passalaqua was the winner of the men’s pole vault with a career-best height of 15-5 1/2 to highlight the action.

Jensen and Passalaqua each captured their second individual titles of the season.

A total of 13 Blue Hen student-athletes competed during the meet, which was designed as a last opportunities for collegiate athletes to qualify for the NCAA East Regional, which will be held May 26-28 at Indiana University.

Also for the Delaware women, Courtney Sniscak was second in the hammer (144-1), Courtney Markow was second in the pole vault (11-2 1/4), Leah Putman finished third in the long jump (17-8 3/4), Aretah Ettarh was seventh in the shot put (36-2 1/4), and Alyssa Kennedy placed 27th in the 1,500 meters (4:55.53).

Also for the Blue Hen men, Nick Alexander was second in the shot put (47-0 1/4) and 11th in the discus (119-3), John Farelli finished third in the shot put (46-4) and fourth in the discus (138-9), George Vallone was fourth in the pole vault (13-11 3/4), Aidan Galasso placed 20th in the 5,000 meters (15:10.71), and Joe Grieco posted a 29th place finish in the 800 meters (1:56.01).
