University of Delaware Women’s Track & Field Honored by USTFCCCA for Academic Performance

athlete photoNEW ORLEANS -- The University of Delaware women’s track & field team has been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for its academic performance during the 2011-12 season.

The Blue Hens, led by head coach Wendy McFarlane, were among 117 NCAA Division I teams recognized as an All-Academic Team for having a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Delaware’s team members put together a cumulative grade point average of 3.09 as 39 of the 64 student-athletes from the indoor and outdoor teams posted a 3.0 or better gpa for the academic year.

Twenty team members posted a 3.5 or better gpa led by sophomore distance runner Lindsay Prettyman, who posted a 3.92 gpa for the academic year.

Delaware was among six teams in the CAA honored by the USTFCCCCA and was joined by William & Mary, George Mason, James Madison, Towson, and UNCW.

The University of Arkansas was selected as the Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year while Stanford University was named the Outdoor Track & Field Scholar team of the Year.
