Delaware Wins Six Events, Morris Sweeps Jumps for UD Women at Towson Track & Field Invitational

athlete photoTOWSON, Md. -- University of Delaware sophomore Paige Morris (at right) swept the long jump and triple jump competitions and Blue Hen athletes won four other events to highlight action at the Towson University Outdoor Track & Field Invitational Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Morris won the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 5-inches and then set a personal best in winning the triple jump with a distance of 37-10 3/4 to lead the Blue Hens.

She now has four career outdoor titles to her credit, including three in the long jump.

Delaware also received first place performances from Vicky Caruso in the 200 meters (23.79), Lindsay Prettyman in the 800 meters (2:15.63), Alyssa Kennedy in the 5,000 meters (18:09.97), and Miranda Reinson in the pole vault (11-7 3/4).

Caruso, a record-setting junior who was competing for the first time this spring, has now won 22 career meet titles while Reinson, a freshman, won her second straight pole vault title of the season, Kennedy was a winner in the 5,000 meters for the second striaght week, and Prettyman captured her third meet title this spring.

Overall, the Hens had 19 top five finishes and 34 top 10 performances during the one-day, non-scoring meet.

Delaware had three second place finishes as Jessica Olsen was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters (4:40.49), Courtney Sniscak was second in the hammer throw (164-11), and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Caruso, Toresha Foster, Nijah Dupiche, and Breanna Nicholson.

Nicholson was also third the 400 meter hurdles hurdles (3:48.9) and Prettyman was third in the 400 meter relay (4:01/.19) with teammates Kelley Donovan, Alexandra Muro, and Alex Carroll.

The Blue Hens will return to action next weekend at the Colonial Relays at William & Mary and at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational.
