Pantale, Gispert Win Events for Delaware Women’s Outdoor Track & Field at VCU Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. -- Alana Pantale (at right) won two throwing events and Emily Gispert captured the 1,500 meters to lead the University of Delaware women’s outdoor track & field team at the Virginia Commonwealth Invitational Saturday at Sports Backers Stadium.
Pantale captured the hammer with a toss of 161-feet, 1-inch and added a victory in the shot put with a toss of 42-2 and a third place showing in the discus (134-3) to pace the Blue Hens. On the track, Gispert captured the 1,500 meters with a clocking of 4:43.07.
Overall, Delaware posted 22 top 10 finishes on the day, including Spencer Nendza, who was ninth in both the triple jump (34-11 1/4) and the javelin (90-3).
Also for the Hens, Kayla Koonz was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:31.10), Rachel Wasserman was third in the 800 meters (2:21.18), Rachel Weinberger was fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:09.01), Aretah Ettarh was fourth in the shot put (41-1 1/2), Monica Hagenauer was fifth in the shot put (39-3 1/4), and Lindsay Guptill was fifth in the 800 meters (2:24.77).
Delaware will return to action next Saturday when the Blue Hens compete at the West Chester (Pa.) Ram Invitational.
