Women's Three-Meter Diving Event Kicks off CAA Championships at George Mason; Bilenki Finishes 13th

FAIRFAX, Va. - - The 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships began with a splash on Wednesday, as the only event to compete during the first day was the women's 3-meter diving competition. The University of Delaware women's team found themselves in seventh place after the first night of events.
Sophomore Erika Bilenki (at right) scored four points for the Blue Hens, tallying 221.90 points in the consolation final, placing her in 13th overall.
James Madison's Nicole Jotso won the CAA Individual crown, scoring 318.15 points in the final round, helping the Dukes to the early team lead in the four-day meet. Drexel's Megan Halicek scored 309.45 points, finishing second. Rounding out the top three was Kimberly Helfrich from JMU with 300.60 points.
Blue Hen sophomore Heather Chucta totaled 176.65 points in the preliminary round, placing 19th overall.
JMU takes the team lead into the second day with all the swimming events still to be had. The Dukes gaines 63 points, besting second place Towson by 33 points (30). Northeastern finished third with 21 points followed by Drexel (17), UNC Wilmington (14), George Mason (6) and Delaware (4).
The swimmers hit the pool tomorrow starting with the 500-yard freestyle. Preliminaries will be held at 10 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
