Delaware Divers Open Colonial Athletic Association Championships with Top 20 Diving Finishes

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships got underway Wednesday night at the McKay Natatorium at George Mason University with the preliminaries and finals of the women’s three-meter diving competition.
The University of Delaware had two divers competing during the day and both posted Top 20 finishes as junior Heather Chucta (at right) placed 19th overall and Schaefer Andrews finished in 20th place.
Chucta recorded a score of 195.6 while Andrew recorded a score of 190.90 points in the morning preliminaries. Both divers failed to qualify for the 16-person finals held later in the day.
James Madison’s Kimberly Helfrich won the event with a score of 324.70 points followed by teammate Nicole Jotso (310.95). Towson’s Jeanne Ball was third with 290.85 points followed by JMU’s Alex Savage and Towson’s Lynda Dickson.
The four-day meet will continue Thursday morning with swimming preliminaries at 10 a.m., diving at 1 p.m., and swimming finals at 6 p.m. The same schedule will continue on Friday and Saturday.
