Broke the school’s all time record in the 50-yard freestyle event at the CAA Championships with a time of 23.58 while placing 10th overall. Swam the top 100-yard backstroke time in school history in the 100-yard backstroke while finishing seventh at the CAA Championships (55.04). Recorded the top 200-yard backstroke time in school history of 2:00.92 at the CAA Championships where she finished 11th. Swam the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay event for the team that broke a record and finished fifth at the CAA Championships with a time of 1:33.56. First leg for the 400-yard medley relay team that finished third at the CAA Championships and broke a school record with a time of 3:43.52. Swam the fourth leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay event for the team that recorded the second fastest time in UD history (3:26.54). Was the first leg for the 200-yard medley relay team that set the fourth best time in school history while finishing sixth at the CAA Championships (1:46.04). Recorded five first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke on the season. Became a Bucknell Invitational Champion in the 200 and 400-yard medley relay events. Competed at the U.S. Winter Nationals in the 100-yard butterfly event. 2010-11 Season: Did not compete. 2009-10 Season: Was the third leg of the 800 freestyle relay team that took first at Loyola in 7:43.54 • finished second at Drexel in the 500 freestyle in 5:12.04 • came in third at Widener in the 50 freestyle in a season best time of 25.02 • finished with the team's fifth best time in the 200 freestyle at UMBC finishing fifth in 1:55.21 • had the team's sixth best time of the year in the 100 freestyle at Loyola, coming in ninth at 54:17.
High School: Earned four letters in swimming at Lake Central High School • two-time team captain • named the squad’s Most Promising Frosh in 2006 and the Most Valuable Player during her final three seasons • Co-MVP of the Duneland Conference in 2009 • Academic All-American selection.
Personal: Lesley Kathleen Payonk ("pay-yunk") • daughter of James and Gayle Payonk • born September 22, 1990 • has a younger sister, Ellie • member of the National Honor Society • enjoys playing ultimate frisbee • majoring in food science with a minor in chemistry at Delaware • was a quality intern at Frito-Lay over the summer • enjoys rock climbing, ultimate frisbee and wake boarding • hopes to work with alternative fuel resources after graduation.
