Personal: Montserrat Ripoll ("moan-sur-ott re-poll") • born Dec. 24, 1988 in Mexico City • daughter of Jose Maria Ripoll and Alejandra Vallejo • mother is a tennis Federation Cup coach for Mexico and played in the Fed Cup for Mexico • mother was ranked as high as high as No. 134 and defeated the world's No. 9 player during her career that included winning a gold medal at the Panamericas and a silver medalist at Centralamericas • has an older sister, Alejandra, who played tennis for one year at Wichita State and three years at Northwood University • honor student as a chemical engineering major • tutors physics, chemistry and math during the summer months in Mexico • started playing tennis at age of three.
