NEWARK, Del. --After an outstanding season on the court, University of Delaware women’s tennis senior Megan Doran was named Capital One/CoSIDA University Division Academic All-District 2 At-Large Team, in a release from the College Sports Information Directors Association.

A native of Brigantine, N.J. (Holy Spirit), Doran (at right) was just one of 12 student-athletes to be named to the first team, and is one of just two Colonial Athletic Association student-athletes selected to the first team. Senior women’s golfer Brooke Golden, of Towson University, joins Doran on the first team.

Doran is now eligible for the national Academic All-America list, which will be released later in the month.

Doran is the seventh University of Delaware student-athlete to earn District II All-Academic honors in 2010-11. She joins Pat Devlin (Football), Zach Reed (Football), Mark Mackey (Football), Jess Chason (Volleyball), Greta Gibboney (Volleyball) and Elena Delle Donne (Women’s Basketball).

Majoring in exercise science at the University, Doran carries a 3.83 grade point average. This is the third time Doran has earned academic honors, having been named to the CAA All-Academic Team in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Prior to this season, Doran has been a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America Nominee on two previous occasions.

Earlier in the season, Doran, along with doubles partner, junior Samantha Carnall, became the winningest doubles pair in University of Delaware history. The Blue Hen pair logged their 35th victory on March 13 against Goldey Beacom College. The pair finished their partnership with 43 career victories, doing so in just two seasons playing together.

Playing just three seasons at Delaware after transferring from the University of Connecticut, Doran amassed a singles record of 60-28. She has also become one of the best doubles players at Delaware, combining for 73 doubles victories over the last three seasons, setting a new school record for career doubles wins by an individual.
